1. (a)A vessel proceeding along a narrow channel or fairway shall keep as near to the outer limit on her starboard side as is safe and practicable.
2. (b)A vessel of less than 20 metres in length or a sailing vessel shall not impede the passage of a vessel which can safely navigate only within the channel or fairway.
3. (c)A vessel engaged in fishing shall not impede the passage of any other vessel navigating within the channel or fairway.
4. (d)A vessel shall not cross a narrow channel or fairway if crossing impedes the passage of a vessel which can safely navigate only within it; the latter may use the doubt signal if in doubt of the crosser's intention.
5. (e)When overtaking can take place only if the vessel to be overtaken takes action to permit safe passing, the overtaking vessel sounds the appropriate signal and, if in agreement, the vessel to be overtaken sounds hers and takes steps to permit safe passing.
6. (f)A vessel nearing a bend where other vessels may be obscured shall navigate with alertness and caution and sound the appropriate signal.
7. (g)Any vessel shall, if circumstances permit, avoid anchoring in a narrow channel.
