Rule 26 – Fishing Vessels

  1. (a)A vessel engaged in fishing, whether underway or at anchor, shall exhibit only the lights and shapes prescribed in this Rule.
  2. (b)A vessel trawling shall exhibit two all-round lights in a vertical line, the upper green and the lower white, or a shape of two cones apices together, and when making way through the water also sidelights and a sternlight.
  3. (c)A vessel engaged in fishing other than trawling shall exhibit two all-round lights in a vertical line, the upper red and the lower white, or the two-cone shape; when its gear extends more than 150 metres horizontally, an all-round white light or a cone apex up in the direction of the gear; and when making way also sidelights and a sternlight.
  4. (d)The additional signals of Annex II apply when fishing in close proximity to other fishing vessels.
  5. (e)A vessel not engaged in fishing shall not exhibit these lights or shapes.
