1. (a)A power-driven vessel towing shall exhibit two masthead lights in a vertical line (three when the length of the tow exceeds 200 metres), sidelights, a sternlight, a towing light in a vertical line above the sternlight, and where the tow exceeds 200 metres a diamond shape.
2. (b)A pushing vessel and a vessel being pushed ahead, rigidly connected as a composite unit, shall be regarded as a power-driven vessel and exhibit the lights of Rule 23.
3. (c)A power-driven vessel pushing ahead or towing alongside, when not a composite unit, shall exhibit two masthead lights in a vertical line, sidelights and a sternlight.
4. (d)A vessel or object being towed shall exhibit sidelights, a sternlight, and where the tow exceeds 200 metres a diamond shape.
5. (e)A vessel being pushed ahead shall exhibit sidelights at the forward end, and a vessel towed alongside sidelights and a sternlight.
6. (f)An inconspicuous, partly submerged vessel or object, or combination of them, being towed shall exhibit all-round white lights appropriate to its size and a diamond shape at the aftermost extremity.
7. (g)Where it is impracticable for a towed vessel or object to show the prescribed lights, all measures shall be taken to light it or at least indicate its presence.
8. (h)Where a vessel not normally engaged in towing cannot display the towing lights, she need not, but shall take all measures to indicate the nature of the connection between the vessels.
